Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it

Aria2 is the way. The only thing missing for me was a way to monitor progress in the menu bar, so I built this https://abdus.dev/projects/tricklebar/

HN discussionI came across this problem when working with ASP.NET Core. Sending nested dictionaries is very verbose and nontrivial to serialize and deserialize. So I rolled my own solution to parse JSON parameters and integrated it with the framework for validation and OpenAPI support. https://abdus.dev/posts/aspnetcore-model-binding-json-query-...

HN discussionHave you seen the oEmbed format: https://abdus.dev/posts/youtube-oembed/ ? I was really happy when I discovered it when I was researching how Wagtail CMS implements the embedded content previews. For your example it returns: "thumbnail_url": "https://i.ytimg.com/vi/bJ7mTY9501c/hqdefault.jpg", The file is smaller but shows up correctly!

on “Fighting with YouTube to show a preview image”I occasionally run into an issue that breaks localhost port forwarding. I can access the service that's running inside WSL2 via its actual IP (172.#.#.#) when 127.0.0.1 breaks. But that IP address changes every time WSL instance restarts. I've had to set up a scheduled task[0] to update an entry in my hosts file every time WSL is assigned a new IP address, which works well enough. [0]: https://abdus.dev/posts/fixing…
