What Hacker News says?

  1. Hey, (one of the) developers here. It's really exciting to see that there's still interest in this little game Greg and I made all those years ago! I wrote up a postmortem on Untrusted back in 2014 that may be of interest if you'd like to learn more about how the game was created: http://alex.nisnevich.com/blog/2014/10/17/some_words_on_untr... I'm happy to answer questions and help anyone's who's stuck and needs a h…

  5. I dunno, I think programming is pretty futuristic. We've got live coding, futuristic platforms, fast dynamic languages, etc... Of course, the most futuristic platform is right under people's noses, the browser. It does things that old Lisp programmers imagined, like live coding, even 3D games, with sound, and even Kinect-like motion control. Googling turned up several on just the first page of results: http://www.biwascheme.org/ http://sisc-scheme.org/sisc-online.php http://lisperator.net/slip/ http://alex.nisnevich.com/ecmachine/ But the parent is really the right answer -- ClojureScript is actually targeted at meeting modern web development challenges and has a thriving ecosystem of powerful tools for the same.

  9. Main developer of Untrusted here! I'm thrilled that people are still excited about this little game Greg and I made, 10 years later :-) If you're interested in the development process behind Untrusted, I wrote a bit about it back in 2014: https://alex.nisnevich.com/blog/2014/10/17/some_words_on_unt... And if you liked Untrusted, you might like my latest game, Wordbots. It's a very different take on the "players can…

  11. If you're ok with using JavaScript as a first programming language, ROT.js ( http://ondras.github.io/rot.js/manual/ ) is a neat library for making roguelikes. It's not a framework so much as a set of utilities for simplifying tasks like rendering the display, generating maps, etc. Some examples of small games made with it are http://ondras.github.io/star-wars/ and http://ondras.zarovi.cz/games/trw/ . I'm currently w…
