Too few sampled comments (6) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN readers link this site mainly for its lists of Clojure videos and functional programming resources, and for an article comparing Git support in Emacs.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 6 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
CEDET could be replacement, although sometimes very slow, and requires customization for complex projects. I made it working with Java as well, but for last 2 years, I didn't have a chance to contribute anymore, and my fork with better Java support is outdated... I wrote an article that should be introduction to CEDET: http://alexott.net/en/writings/emacs-devenv/EmacsCedet.html - maybe it will be useful

HN discussionThere's lots of books, you can find RealWorld and Road to Logic online too (not sure if RtL is legit) http://alexott.net/en/fp/books/#sec7 and tuts http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Learning_Haskell http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Category:Tutorials

HN discussionHis Clojure analogue Rich Hickey gives great presentations at conferences. If he had the time and/or means to do a course, it'd also be excellent news. Edit: Though I don't think he's affiliated with a university. Oh well, there's still lots of good Clojure-oriented stuff available: http://alexott.net/en/clojure/video.html

HN discussionwhat you call "fluff" is the stuff you need to understand if you want to understand clojure because they are not just "ideas", it's what clojure implements and how it works... having said that you might find something here: http://alexott.net/en/clojure/video.html
