HN discussionI know it is not what you've been doing but it may be something you'd like to consider. I also love RSS and even though there are many add-ons to use in Firefox to restore that kind of functionality, I prefer to use Thunderbird to consume RSS/Atom feeds, I've posted about it at: http://andregarzia.com/2018/11/reading-blogs-with-thunderbir... HN discussionI wrote about reading blogs with Thunderbird not long ago: http://andregarzia.com/2018/11/reading-blogs-with-thunderbir... I think a similar setup would be good for many people here who wish to read RSS but doesn't want to add another SaaS to their life.

HN discussionReally liked that post, then again Lua is one of my favourite languages. I wrote this post https://andregarzia.com/2021/01/lua-a-misunderstood-language... some time ago and it kinda touches similar points as the OP. Read on if any of yous want to see yet another person talking about Lua.

HN discussionCouple years ago I wrote a blog post about how LiveCode is a modern day HyperCard: https://andregarzia.com/2019/07/livecode-is-a-modern-day-hyp... I still believe that people who enjoy HyperCard or want to experience something similar but with current day comforts should check HyperCard out. Oh, while I wrote that post I was working for LiveCode but I'm no longer with them. Still like them a lot though.

HN discussionI made two webextensions that can discover blogrolls: https://andregarzia.com/2024/05/feed-and-blogrolls-discovery... Also https://blogcat.org has the same feature but is a full blog reader. It is cool to surface blogrolls like that.

HN discussionHey, I took some time to write a reply to that post showing a modern day alternative: https://andregarzia.com/2019/07/livecode-is-a-modern-day-hyp... I posted another comment linking to a modern day HyperCard that was downvoted without any explanation? I don't understand why it happened. Can someone tell me?

HN discussionI wrote about this in: https://andregarzia.com/2021/01/lua-a-misunderstood-language... I like 1 based indexes and the globals don't hurt me on my projects. It is like JS, it has its own bits that are different than other languages, once you learn them you see that it is mostly fine.

HN discussionThere is a solid Windows ARM64 laptop, sort of: Microsoft's Surface Pro X. The main problem, as far as I can tell, is that there are few native ARM apps for Windows (though the MS Edge browser is native ARM64), and the machine is limited to running x86-32 (no 64 bit) apps through a translation layer, which makes the apps seem slow and makes the machine power hungry. But I would definitely consider getting one if I p…

HN discussionCouple years ago, I wrote a commentary inspired by this post highlighting that there is a readly available HyperCard-like system called LiveCode. I went on to demonstrate the creation of the same project and some more. It is basically the same source. https://andregarzia.com/2019/07/livecode-is-a-modern-day-hyp... PS: I no longer work for LiveCode but I did back when I wrote that article.

HN discussionI just wrote a "Gemini is a little gem"[1] inspired by the OP article. I think that most criticism of Gemini kinda misses some important aspects of the ecosystem and ethos behind the protocol. [1]: https://andregarzia.com/2022/01/gemini-is-a-little-gem.html
