The last post was in 2015, but the archive is still widely read.
Too few sampled comments (2) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
The linked post is a critique of Xamarin's cross-platform mobile tools. The comments discuss whether Titanium is slow and how much work it takes to build one app for both iOS and Android.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
Titanium isn't horribly slow, but it isn't some cross-platform panacea either. Building an app that supports iOS and Android well is still a big task. You don't just build one app and get the second platform for free. Lots of the APIs, methods and properties are platform specific or function quite differently platform to platform. I've written about the topic here -> http://usingimho.wordpress.com/2010/04/06/men-and-women-on-r... and i've been smiten to death in the comments because i dared to state the fact that only around 1% of the opensource pro…

HN discussionI've collected and studied data from rubygems a while ago and I came to the exact same conclusion. (you can find the post here -> http://usingimho.wordpress.com/2010/04/06/men-and-women-on-r... ) While at the time I wasn't so sure about my thoughts, since the amount of lynching i received in the comments, not I'm totally sure that this issue needs serious and unbiased scientific studies.

HN discussionLet's see some data: My comment average is 3.42. I have 3 (three) comments below 0 points, all in that thread. If you look closely you'll see that I've backed up my statements, in a way I believe to be coherent and well-put, for every single case I've been downvoted. Those replies have been heavily upvoted. In that same thread, there are many users that have been also downvoted to hell, much more than I've been. I d…
