What Hacker News says?

  1. I had this same initial reaction, but concluded as others have that this architectural approach was not actually a separation of concerns but merely an unwieldy separation of technologies: http://blog.andrewray.me/youre-missing-the-point-of-jsx/ When you start thinking in components it becomes much nicer to have the styling, logic and layout all in one file, isolated from the rest of the application and easy to edit…

I started last week and got decently up to speed with these three articles: [1] "ReactJS for Stupid People" - this explains what React is in simple meaningful terms. [2] "React.js Introduction For People Who Know Just Enough jQuery To Get By" - this shows you how things are usually done with just jQuery compared to how it's done in React. It really allows you to see why the jQuery way sucks. [3] "Flux For Stupid Peo…

  9. I agree with andwaal that reflux is the simplest way so far that I've seen. I think what is really lacking is a demonstration application which isn't just "hello world" or the standard todo app rewritten in React. I just don't find that helpful. For another overview, see this article: http://blog.andrewray.me/reactjs-for-stupid-people/ Please don't take offence at the title, I didn't write it :D

  11. It's been my experience, especially in the startup scene where business requirements change often, that `git blame` rarely shows you what you want. Files get renamed, moved, re-indented, etc, frequently. I wrote a tutorial on a more effective (at least for me) solution to find the true author of a change: http://blog.andrewray.me/a-better-git-blame/

  15. My favorite part is how half of the screenshots include a clearly marked "Free Usage Tier" option that OP did not select https://blog.andrewray.me/content/images/2018/03/Screen-Shot... Dark UI indeed. https://blog.andrewray.me/content/images/2018/03/aws-rds-now...
