What Hacker News says?
Only tangentially related but I'd like to share it as space nerds (like me) may love it: https://mainenginecutoff.com/blog/2019/05/downlink This is a small mac app getting real time satellite images, and using it as your wallpaper. One of the source is Jaxa's Himawari-8, hence the link. Also, the podcasts from Anthony Colangelo (same page) are pretty good to keep up with the space industry

on “Japan's Hayabusa2 probe makes second touchdown on distant asteroid”Tim Dodd is great! An alternative great podcast (that Todd backs) is Main Engine Cutoff (MECO). Highly recommend you give it a listen if you are interested in Space News, and thoughtful discussion on recent topics. https://mainenginecutoff.com/

on “Are Aerospike Engines Better Than Traditional Rocket Engines?”As cool as it looks, this airplane seems promised to go the way of the Hercules H4: fly once then stay in a museum forever. This recent podcast from mainenginecutoff speaks about Stratolaunch [1] [1] https://mainenginecutoff.com/podcast/108

on “In California, giant Stratolaunch jet flies for first time”> is in fact quite far ahead of them This is like saying that AWS doesn't matter because people have been hosting servers for decades. It's technically correct but misses the entire point. SpaceX and RocketLab do print parts, but they still need assembly lines with hard to source machines and skilled labor. RocketLab is working on reusability not because of cost savings but because they are assembly line constrained…

on “SpaceX payload code-named Zuma failed to reach orbit after Sunday launch”We live in such interesting times regarding space. Between Stoke, Rocket Lab, and SpaceX, we have three fully reusable launch vehicles being built today! I am really excited about Stoke. They have done so much on a relatively limited budget. For anyone unfamiliar with Stoke, here is a great recent interview with CEO, Andy Lapsa: https://mainenginecutoff.com/podcast/284

on “Stoke awarded contract to develop space mobility capabilities”I am submitting this because I had never heard of air-breathing satellites prior to the latest MECO episode which interviews a senior VP at Redwire. They look straight out of science fiction. https://mainenginecutoff.com/podcast/277
