Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
Linked in an HN thread on Amazon reviews. The commenter quotes the post's 2008 argument that on the internet traffic equals power, which equals money.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
Fixed it. Thanks. Here's the article I was paraphrasing: "The secret to success on the internet can be boiled down to one simple accomplishment: building traffic. That’s it. If you have a site that attracts a lot of visitors, you will be able to make money. On the internet, traffic equals power, which subsequently equals money." -Arn, MacRumors.com http://normalkid.com/2008/06/26/traffic-power-money/

HN discussionI don't trust Google's gmail spam filter because of the issue with false positives. And I get a lot of spam, so it's impractical for me to go through the spam mailbox. I'm very happy with my paid spam filter service (SpamStopsHere.com) which reduces the false positive rate, possibly at letting slightly more spam through -- but that's how I'd like to prioritize it. I wrote about it a few years ago: http://normalkid.c…
