What Hacker News says?
Learned German. A little Duolingo, then * memorizing vocabulary and practicing pronunciation with Anki * private lessons * grammar book with exercises * podcasts * news * some books. Worked very well. Had a good starting point when I arrived in Germany, and the immersion then helped a lot (but I stopped using Anki due to laziness). I found this page very useful: https://puroh.it/learning-german-a1-to-c2/
