What Hacker News says?
I would say that Avo is by far the best Rails admin-like solution out there. It's beautiful. https://avohq.io/

HN discussionYes, sure. They are tools that work together nicely. I use both on our infrastructure websites ( https://avohq.io ). Jumpstart is an amazing starter app that gives you accounts, billing, notifications, and others, and with Avo you can take over and build your admin panel/back-office fast! I've spoken with Chris Oliver and started work on adding Avo to Jumpstart and to have it as an alternative to rails_admin.

HN discussionWhen one says "admin panel", the general belief is that it's an obscure space where only the core team comes to check on some stats, or update some records. Avo is more about building a real app with it. It's meant to be what the user sees when they interact with your app. You actually build your app with Avo. Avo becomes the app. When I talk to Rails developers and mention the words "admin panel", they automaticall…

HN discussionQuality can be much better with these kinds of templates and frameworks, because the creators can make better default choices, and generally can be aware of more corner cases, compatibility goals, integration testing, and the like. For example, Avo ( https://avohq.io ) and Bullet Train ( https://bullettrain.co/ ) are IMHO higher quality than what a typical intermediate developer could accomplish in weeks of full tim…

HN discussionNope. Not dead. I'm building Avo to help developers ship apps faster than ever. Avo is to Rails what Rails is to web development. https://avohq.io

HN discussionThat's a good question. So, we come from Rails. We actually built Avo ( https://avohq.io ), an admin gem for Rails, so we can say we have tried it that way. Avo was first a Rails-backed SPA (Rails server and Vue front-end), and it didn't work out that well. Unfortunately, the Rails community didn't take that lightly, and for a good reason. I won't go into too much bike-shedding here, but the most important reason is…

HN discussionHey. I'm Adrian, author of Avo. Avo is similar to Refine but for Ruby on Rails. It helps developers create CRUD-like applications such as internal tools, admin panels, Content Management Systems and user-facing apps. I love seeing more and more movement in this space. https://avohq.io

HN discussionI would recommend Ruby on Rails - you will find well establish gems for everything you need (eg: devise for auth, pay gem for paymens, sitepress for static content like marketing pages …) There are also some very well done (simple to understand and maintain) starter kits. Here are two of them: - https://jumpstartrails.com - https://businessclasskit.com I would recommend Avo (and I am doing so for a couple of project…

HN discussionNothing really beats Rails. Use something like Jumpstart (jumpstartrails.com) and Avo ( https://avohq.io ) and you scaffold a full consumer-ready app in literally a few hours. The thing that bugs me the most with Next.JS and the whole JAMStack movement is that, yeah, you get from "git clone" to deployed on Vercel in two minutes, but if you need to create real app features like a sturdy admin, accounts, authorization…
