How about something like Archy? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archy#Features It was never polished but you can still play with an old (windows) build: http://users-www.wineme.fb5.uni-siegen.de/home/SebastianDrax... Edit: or for a gui, something like Enso (for the whole OS) http://humanized.com/enso or Ubiquity https://wiki.mozilla.org/Labs/Ubiquity/Latest_Ubiquity_User_... HN discussionThe Ubiquity team at Mozilla is lead by Aza Raskin, son of Jef Raskin. (Jef wrote the book "Humane Interfaces" and developed THE (The Humane Environment), which never progressed beyond the tech demo you can read about at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archy and download the last version from https://users-www.wineme.fb5.uni-siegen.de/home/Sebastian%20... ). Aza started Humanized, to develop Enso, a direct predecessor…

HN discussionI only like that for short things. One of these days I hope to find a way to get a browser to follow a link by opening a smaller window/area directly in the text. That way I don't entirely lose the visual context on the screen. I've been told the original Xanadu system was designed that way. Enso also uses this idea in places. Now that the http://www.humanized.com developers have joined Mozilla, I'm somewhat optimis…

HN discussionNamely is a less complicated alternative to Quicksilver on OS X. It only works for applications. http://amarsagoo.info/namely/ Enso is interesting alternative to launchy on Windows. It's no longer in active development. http://humanized.com/enso/launcher/

HN discussionLooks like Enso http://humanized.com/enso/launcher/fingertips.php , which is no longer actively maintained but is pretty much complete. Actually, a bunch of the developers were absorbed into Mozilla to do Ubiquity, which has a similar UI for web commands and is in early beta https://ubiquity.mozilla.com/ .

HN discussionOw. That's harsh. They also did http://www.songza.com/ , which I think is pretty elegant. Here's the response to the Quicksilver Clone accusations: http://humanized.com/weblog/2007/11/01/enso-quicksilver-for-... At the end of the day, these guys are pretty sharp about UI, IMO-- whether they cloned something or not.

HN discussionScammy and spammy. Where are the specs? Sure, you can get different storage sizes, that's nice. What about the internals? Screen size, resolution, and technology? Battery life? 3G data bands? Weight? Dimensions? Has anyone reputable reviewed these? The name and logo both look to be ripped off from http://humanized.com/enso/ The OP's account is brand new, and has already spammed it up a few times: http://news.ycombin…
