Why HN links it

HN readers link Bastian Bloessl's posts on reverse engineering radio protocols, such as decoding bus-stop display telemetry and Wi-Fi spectrum scanning on ath9k cards. The comments cite them as background, not as praise.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

  3. Actually A while ago, it was discovered Atheros ath9k and ath10k based wifi cards have a spectrum scan feature. There was some work in reverse engineering the data format. I'm not sure if theres been similar developments for recent devices. https://www.bastibl.net/ath9k-spectrum-scanning/
