Why HN links it
HN readers link BI Cortex, a business intelligence and analytics blog with benchmarks and comparisons of data warehouses such as Redshift, BigQuery, Azure SQL DW and DuckDB vs ClickHouse.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 7 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
For data engineering the two best by far I know of: 1. BI Cortex - sadly seemingly not active anymore: https://bicortex.com/ 2. Mark Litwintschik's Tech Blog: https://tech.marksblogg.com/

HN discussionThis is very much an active space, so the half-life of in depth analyses is limited, but one of the best write ups from about 1.5 years ago is this one: https://bicortex.com/duckdb-vs-clickhouse-performance-compar...

HN discussionI have not used Redshift in production but it's been getting pretty good reviews thus far. I did some testing using pretty small dataset which you can read more about here: http://bicortex.com/amazon-redshift-review-data-warehouse-in... I don't think it's the answer to all data storage/warehousing needs but it does look promising and it should only get better.

on “Amazon Redshift – New Features”DuckDB should give you everything with regards to DevEx that you seem to be needing. You're not specifying what volume we're talking about here, but I'd be surprised if you can't go a long way with DuckDB. Ultimately the bottleneck for latency in a non-big data scenario will be memory? You can run it in a browser: https://github.com/duckdb/duckdb-wasm DuckDB's docs and blog are full of great content with regards to…
