Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
One HN commenter links this blog's post about running a k3s Kubernetes cluster on smartphones. The comment does not judge the writing, so the linked post is described by its subject.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

HN discussionIf you want cheaper (sort of) K8s nodes, with similar more compute power / RAM you can reuse old devices (smartphones, tablets) and run postmarketOS on them. Shameless plug: https://blog.denv.it/posts/pmos-k3s-cluster/

HN discussionI just did something similar to bring mainline Linux to my Daylight DC-1 [1] [2], although possibly more difficult since I had to start from scratch. I can guarantee the same amount of work, without AI, takes probably 10x or more time (I did it in the past w/ the Google Pixel C [3]). Unfortunately it looks like pmOS is against AI [4], so I'll likely switch away from pmOS and never contribute a single line in the fut…

HN discussionI've created boxy [1] to sandbox the agents via Landlock and gh-proxy [2] to not share GH PATs that might leak over the internet. I have a far better setup on my Kubernetes cluster [3], but these are good building block (IMHO) to start preventing these kind of issues. I also "recklessly" run `claude` / `codex` as root for certain things - but that happens on a completely separate machine that is meant to be pruned a…

HN discussionI already ranted a bit about this in my conclusion of this blog post [1], but I'm happy to rant again here: it's beyond my comprehension why planning a train journey in Japan has to be this messed up. You first have to figure out the route (and Google Maps doesn't have all the operators there, so good luck), then you have to figure out how to buy the ticket for said route - which is an entire different system for ea…
