LiveKit is the company blog at blog.livekit.io, writing about ai and programming. Since 2021, 11 different Hacker News readers have linked it 19 times, most often “How We Built a Globally Distributed Mesh Network to Scale WebRTC”. No feed was found, so read it on the site itself.
Too few sampled comments (3) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN readers link LiveKit's blog for its realtime voice and video work, including a transformer-based end-of-turn detection model and posts on prompting voice agents. The comments only cite or link these posts.

What Hacker News says?
This is the exact strategy I'm using for the real-time voice agent I'm building. Livekit also published a custom turn detection model that works really well based on the video they released, which was cool to see. HN discussionOpen Source doesn’t have an instant scalability offering yet. I hope someone takes it on! Quite a few companies offer this a service though. HN discussionI am so impressed how quickly LiveKit has developed and become polished. If you missed it they wrote a really good article on it here[0] I also really love as a company how LiveKit operates. I work on an Open Source library they use (Pion). They contributed so much upstream and take an active part in the community. They also publicize that they are using it. It is great seeing people doing the 'right thing' succeed…

HN discussionI don't have an idea on how to do cascading OBS instances. I should write some software to make this easy though. I want to make 'self hosting' as easy as possible. I think https://github.com/glimesh/broadcast-box will fill that gap for now. For my own usage I run WebRTC servers and have them 'replicate' the video traffic. LiveKit did a write up on this with some good graphics https://blog.livekit.io/scaling-webrtc-…

HN discussionHey HN! One of the founders of LiveKit here. I've worked on two companies now, fifteen years apart, that needed realtime audio/video infrastructure. Turns out that even in 2021, there aren't many modern, flexible and inexpensive options. I was chatting with my fellow YCS07 batch-mate, @davidz about it, and we explored what it would take to build our own SFU on top of WebRTC. The result is LiveKit. You can read the m…

HN discussionThank you! I have been focused most on vertically scaling Pion. AES-GCM[0] was a big one that landed recently. I also pushed for it in Chromium[1], it still isn't the default unfortunately. Batch UDP[2] should be happening soon as well. After that I want to generally make Pion faster[3], less allocations, locking etc... I don't have concrete plans though. If anyone has experience in this area I would love your help.…

HN discussionWebRTC does have the concept of ABR/renditions, it is know as Simulcast [0] Agree on no segments. WebRTC CDNs are built differently because of this. Your infrastructure looks like a tree, the nodes at the edges are what viewers connect too. One design is [1], but you can have others.
