Too few sampled comments (4) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN commenters link this blog for German tech stories: Telekom YouTube bandwidth problems, a defaced WhatsApp website, and a Deutsche Bahn job post seeking a Windows 3.11 admin. The comments only cite these posts as sources.

What Hacker News says?
YouTube isn't the fastest here in Germany either. For example the Telekom (Germany's largest ISP) has bandwidth troubles with YouTube from time to time (because of some backbone bottleneck). I could only find a German blog post about this, but I have definitely experienced this myself: http://stadt-bremerhaven.de/telekom-aeussert-sich-zu-youtube...

HN discussionShameless plug: I did something similar 6 years ago and created sonos-web. Sadly I stopped working on the project, but it was indeed cool to play Youtube videos on your Sonos device (among other things). https://github.com/denysvitali/sonos-web/ https://github.com/denysvitali/sonos-web/blob/master/plugins... Screenshots on the README are not available anymore, but I managed to find these: http://stadt-bremerhaven.de…
