Too few sampled comments (3) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

HN readers link Christopher Schmidt's blog for its GIS and web-mapping posts, such as a choropleth proof of concept and the Google projection EPSG:900913 that became EPSG:3857. Comments cite it as a reference.

What Hacker News says?

  1. If you are willing to pay money, tools like AmMaps and Tableau can fill the "pre-assembled" requirement. For free, you can use the Many Eyes project to do this kind of visualization as long as you can transform your data source into the required format. There was also a neat proof of concept that someone from the OpenLayers community did a while back: http://crschmidt.net/mapping/choropleth.html I've used that code…

  5. Well, I was expecting something about the "Google projection" for maps, unofficially noted as the slightly different EPSG:900913 [1] until finally standardized as EPSG:3857 [2].
