Why HN links it

CoderPad is an online interviewing platform, not a blog. Commenters mention using it for technical interviews and link its homepage, job postings, and product pages rather than any writing.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 13 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

See how candidates work with AI on real code. CoderPad Qualify, Screen and Interview cover every stage of technical hiring, from pre-screen to interview.

What Hacker News says?

  1. For those interviewers and candidates looking for a better solution than the "google doc shared whiteboard" - I suggest checking out a product I make: https://coderpad.io/ You can think of it as a much higher fidelity Stypi, Etherpad, Collabedit, etc, except that you can run the code in the browser as you write it . It really helps alleviate the choking sensation of being asked to write out an entire problem on a wh…

  5. > In fact, anything besides the candidate's native editing environment makes for an obtuse and off-putting experience, all around. And how would I use that, as an interviewer, in a phone screen, realistically? (I don't believe that I could — reliably — get them into a Google Hangout, for example.) (We used https://coderpad.io/ ; it was alright, and certainly better than Google Docs.)

  7. I found that the quip about how the document that they are sharing while having a conversation is not screensharing as we commonly understand it in modern parlance to be pretty illuminating. That modern screensharing is in several ways worse than a demo that came out decades ago is frankly amazing. I've tried to recapture a bit of that early magic with https://coderpad.io/ (multiple cursors, realtime editing/executi…

  9. Not at all. The phone screen I'm talking about is using https://coderpad.io/ which is an online shared programming environment. No white board involved, just a text editor and compiler, and whatever references, online information, or anything else you want to use.

  22. A bad phone interview is very different from age discrimination. Was this lazy interviewer even aware of the candidate's age? If this is all they have, this can't possibly go anywhere. Right...? Reading between the lines, it sounds like the guy got angry and argumentative with the interviewer, and that never ends in employment. A better legal angle could be that the crappy phone line is discriminatory against people…

I built https://coderpad.io to make the whole programmer-interview phone screen process easier. It's like Stypi on steroids, because it comes with a live REPL. You can play around with, say, JS, right there in the window. I've…

  30. Somehow, neither Facebook, nor Amazon, Netflix, Google nor Microsoft give home assignments as a prerequisite for entering into the process. I can assure you there is no shortage of candidates willing to work for any of them that would take the assignment in a heartbeat. I can assume the reason they are not giving assignments is what I stated, the hiring process is extremely expensive and it makes absolutely no sense…
