Personal blog · codinginparadise.org/weblogprogrammingweb
Brad Neuberg writes Coding In Paradise, a personal blog at codinginparadise.org about programming and web. Since 2007, 12 different Hacker News readers have linked it 24 times, most often “Intelligence Augmentation and the Myth of the “Golden Lost Age””. The last post was in 2022, but the archive is still widely read.
Too few sampled comments (5) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
Commenters link its posts on Purple Include, NLS/Augment and Hyperscope demos, and SVG web projects, as demos and project history. No comment judges the writing itself.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 5 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
Thanks for those links, especially the first to Jamie Zawinski's 1998 post on "vast volumes of email" and interwingled data. Yes, that is the sort of concepts and implementation I am talking about (and had hoped perhaps to move Thunderbird towards). Though I might prefer a different UI than JetBrain's Omea -- as well as a FOSS one. In one sketch of some ideas, I was thinking of that all more as a set of plugins: htt…

HN discussion For another previous effort, @bradneuberg built some stuff around this a while back. See http://forge.blueoxen.net/purple-include/ and http://codinginparadise.org/weblog/labels/purple%20include.h... .

HN discussionIt seems to have continued here: http://codinginparadise.org/weblog/2006/12/ann-hyperscope-11... The demo might not work as I was viewing OPML. Probably wasn't served with the correct mime type to be recognised as XML. Would work locally though.

HN discussionI'd wait to 2012 for pure SVG solutions, considering it's not in Firefox 3.6 (or IE8). Having just upgraded to 6.0, I respect the wishes of anyone needing to stick with 3.6.x for awhile longer. Although, there is this http://code.google.com/p/svgweb/ ( http://codinginparadise.org/projects/svgweb/samples/demo.htm... )

HN discussionGreat piece. I got a chance to work with Douglas Engelbart several years ago and wrote up some responses in reply to Maarten's IA or AI post: http://codinginparadise.org/ebooks/html/blog/ia_vs__ai.html

HN discussionHere's an NLS/Augment screencast and demo from 2006: http://codinginparadise.org/ebooks/html/blog/hyperscope_scre... . HN discussionI've been fascinated by the ambition and innovation in most DARPA projects. How does someone who is in industry rather than an academic context get involved in a DARPA project? More info on my background for context: http://codinginparadise.org/about/
