Why HN links it
HN readers link it as a Python asyncio introduction through a fast web-scraping example, comparing it with threads for I/O-bound work.

What Hacker News says?
asyncio is just nice API for async programing and event loop management. You should start from something high level in order to obtain asyncio ideas, like scraping [1] or try web development with aiohttp [2]. And then if you want to write some library or port database driver, look for examples at aio-libs[3] github organization. [1] http://compiletoi.net/fast-scraping-in-python-with-asyncio.h... HN discussionI discovered asyncio when I stumped on this [1] blog post (linked also at asyncio.org). It was exactly what I needed for a personal project (a fast webscraping thing); before asyncio I went for the threads solution, but this thing performs one thousand times better. I am really optimistic about this library, as the fact that is a core lib will make I/O with python A LOT easier. [1]: http://compiletoi.net/fast-scrapi…
