What Hacker News says?

  1. I'm aware of UI inconsistencies, like this dated article below. https://www.corbinstreehouse.com/blog/2021/10/macos-12-monte... But was curious is are people having stability & reliability type of software quality problems.

  5. This isn't a great answer, because there _is_ some literature to point to concerning how feedback (bugs and otherwise, regarding engineering) is handled at Apple: https://www.corbinstreehouse.com/blog/2019/03/the-sad-state-... The game that Apple's dev evangelism needs to play is the same one that MSFT/Google/etc play. Apple gets a free pass because they've had a largely devoted (almost cult-ish) fanbase of software…

  7. Code to fix problems, even in theory, isn't unnecessary. Statistically, changes I did were very unlikely to produce bugs. I wrote about this in my post about why you shouldn't do code reviews: https://www.corbinstreehouse.com/blog/2018/01/code-reviews-p...

  9. It's buried in the article: When I worked at Apple I practiced what I am now preaching. I would screen all my bugs within a day or so. I would verify bugs within a week or so. I would poke around at code and attempt to make theoretical fixes for bugs I couldn’t reproduce. I felt like it was part of my job, and I just did these things as a daily task. UI inconsistency in macOS over the years has gotten worse. I don’t notice as many bugs as others, but UI for sure is an issue. Here’s an interest blog post from a former Apple UI employee. https://www.corbinstreehouse.com/blog/2021/10/macos-12-monte...
