What Hacker News says?

  1. I recently implemented layers on my site https://daniel.do/ and honestly found it really helpful in terms of explicitly organizing specificity. It also gives you a much clearer idea of where in your styling stack something is coming from. > Container queries Have you ever built a piece of functionality that goes on pages you don't control? For instance, I built software that displayed a map on people's pages. but I…

  3. I have a personal site https://daniel.do that I don’t write on frequently. It’s mostly because when I am motivated to write a post it’s about something that’s a really big deal in my life or something that took a long time. Like I wrote a post about being a software engineer at the CDC when COVID hit and more recently about becoming a digital nomad. My blog is not for job opportunities/professional purpose. My resum…

  5. See I don’t understand this argument. I wrote a blog post about this recently where I discuss this at length. But are MFi cables overpriced? It doesn’t seem to be the case. https://daniel.do/article/chromes-manifest-v3-foibles/ (scroll down to the section that says aside as the main post is about something else)

  11. This was an extreme example, there are many more subtle variants of this usually complaining about devenv or some other tooling. Here’s one making front page recently: https://daniel.do/article/laying-myself-off-from-amazon/ And hey sometimes they have a valid point but yeah usually they will feel out management about it and if it works you’re going to hear about it non-stop

  13. I have written two blog posts that sort touch on this subject. The increase in screen pixel density has had a much larger impact on web design as a discipline than is commonly acknowledged. https://daniel.do/article/making-noisy-svgs/ (I link to the second post in the first paragraph)
