Commentary and Analysis on Radical Islam and the Middle East, by Daniel Pipes
What Hacker News says?
You are wrong on so many levels (and I'm not a jew). When zionism was created in the late 19th century, most jews in the world had NO interest in moving to Palestine or being zionists. Ask yourself the question: why if they believe that the land that is now Israel was theirs on the basis of religion, why were so many jews uninterested in pursuing this? Zionism was a reaction to the hundreds of years of anti-semitism…

on “Shut up and play nice: How the Western world is limiting free speech”Perhaps you mean they are Muslims . Islamism is an ideology -- or arguably a catch-all term for a number of ideologies -- that want to force Islam into the government, law and everything. http://www.danielpipes.org/954/distinguishing-between-islam-... The average Iraqi or Syrian isn't Islamist. E.g. the Alawites in Syria aren't Islamists, and the former Baath party in Iraq wasn't either.

on “Disappointed with Europe, Thousands of Iraqi Migrants Return Home”It's possible the taxi drivers refused the pickup because of the dog, not because of the disability. There's apparently a view that dogs are unclean by some Muslim sects. So, those drivers may be passing by because of the dog. There is certainly some history: http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2005/11/muslim-taxi-drivers-...

on “A guide dog that spies on people who ignore its owner”Clicking through links gave me this gem[1] by a Daniel Pipes: > "If I were a Muslim I would let you know," Barack Obama has said, and I believe him. In fact, he is a practicing Christian, a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ. He is not now a Muslim. > But was he ever a Muslim or seen by others as a Muslim? More precisely, might Muslims consider him a murtadd (apostate), that is, a Muslim who converted to…

on “Iran says it will target US tech companies in Middle East”Maybe the Islamic Republic shouldn't have attacked civilian assets in portions of the Gulf that are have been pro-Iran such as Qatar's ONG infra (it is QatarEnergy that has been helping Iran productionize the South Pars field since the early 1990s), Kuwait's welfare office, and the ADNOC loading dock in the Emirate of Fujairah. Sentiments have hardened amongst Khaleejis [0] who previously were open to an off-ramp. E…

on “Oil and gas prices jump after Iran and Israel attack gasfields”> The kind of pro-Iran state that has hosted the biggest US military base in the Middle East for decades... Al Udeid and Exxon's stake in QatarEnergy is Qatar's tribute to the US to not be added onto sanctions lists for conducting business with Iran. Al Udeid Airbase was only established in 1996 after Iran and Qatar began collaborating on LNG extraction in the early 1990s and after Iran helped put down a coup attemp…
