Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
Only one comment, in a thread about Airmail, a Mac mail client sold for $2. It asks about the app's business model and does not discuss the linked writing.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
Writing by David Barnard about the App Store, apps, technology, and independent software.
What Hacker News says?
I was curious if there had been any discussion about this. I suppose not. Recommended in the "Mavericks ruins Mail.app" thread[0], I was surprised to find it only costs $2. Given the lessons of Sparrow[1] (which sold for $3!), this doesn't seem sustainable. What's their business model? Is it entirely based on $2 upfront sales with no sustained support? Because I cannot imagine that lasting long. [0]. https://news.yc…
