What Hacker News says?

  1. I build tools all the time using AI tools that would have taken me 10x longer before. A couple examples below. The first example was a literal one shot of my dumping the full page html into cursor and asking it for the feature I needed. In using it today it already saved me over an hour of analysis time across the refunds I analyze. The second example includes using AI for better classifying text and having our supp…

  11. It's funny you should mention Netflix. They demoed something called Falkor two years ago that is/was extremely similar to Relay/GraphQL. It's unfortunate that it's made so little progress in the past two years, but it wouldn't surprise me of the talks on Falkor had influenced or inspired Facebook's implementation. 13. > WASM can't talk to the DOM directly It will according to multiple sources: "In fact, not only will the JavaScript engine be exposed to WebAssembly modules, but so will the DOM. This means you could, in theory, write whole web applications in C and/or C++ and/or other languages that compile into WebAssembly" [1] "Beyond the MVP (Minimum Viable Product), another high-level goal is to improve support for languages ot…

  19. Yeoman, Grunt, and Gulp are (I believe) all various implementations of a task runner. They chain tasks in different ways, but at the end of the day think of your asset build as a set of discrete steps. Broccoli ( https://github.com/broccolijs/broccoli ), the build tool written by Jo Liss and supported by the Ember community, is truly an asset pipeline tool. It is concerned with transformations to filesystems and fil…

  21. I can’t solve everyone’s problems but I can say that I have 1-2 (depending if an outstanding offer is accepted) open principal engineering roles directly working for me. The process will be talking to the recruiter, then two tech interviews, then an interview with me. This will take you a couple weeks to go through because of our team is tiny and we’re fairly busy. Team is 100% remote and async. All the stuff in the…

  22. Monit is by far your best bet. Easy to install, packaged on most distros and it performs reactive monitoring as opposed to most traditional monitoring systems like Nagios. Plus you can open up a web interface if you want to allow for easy browsing of monitored processes. EDIT: I liked it so much (and it was so easy) that I wrote a blog post expounding how much I liked it and how to use it. http://moduscreate.com/mon…
