Why HN links it

HN readers link this blog's posts on using Nim for microcontrollers, such as Nim on Arduino and bare-metal Teensy USB drivers. The comments only cite or link these posts without judging the writing.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 5 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

  3. For anyone that might be interested, there were some efforts some time back to get Rust running on the Teensy[1][2][3][4], and although there have been no recent updates, the code is available to use and should still be relevant although there have been changes[5][6][7] in the meantime. 4. I would really like to see more work on improving the use of Nim for programming microcontrollers. I stumbled on to https://github.com/elcritch/nesper recently and it looks neat, but I had issues getting my code to compile. Improved support for other MCUs like the esp8266 and atmega32u4 would be really cool and useful. It would be nice to have Nim as a higher level alternative to micropython or lua in the embedded w…

  5. This syntax comes close to Nim. I am using Nim for years now, and it is much more convenient than C while retaining the same performance. C functions can be imported and used seemlessly. Nim offers several optional garbage collectors which can be turned off for embedded systems. Nim has a package manager (Babel), and Nim's macros which are powerful like Lisp macros (way ahead of C++ macros) make it possible to creat…

  6. Unfortunately I don't have anything that isn't immediately searchable via Google (for example: http://disconnected.systems/blog/nim-on-adruino/ ). I was indeed planning to write a chapter on this but due to page count constraints I wasn't able to, that said I will do my best to write an article on this at least and post it on nim-lang.org as well as on book.picheta.me :) I do also know one person that was working on…
