What Hacker News says?

  1. I would beg to disagree. The screenshots show that I think there is very little information to be downloaded to begin with because Kagi does not collect it, which is true. That does not mean that our policy is to ignore GDPR requests, that is a ridiculous inference to make. The article you point to is a perception of one person, unfortunately sharing screenshots out of context to create a negative narrative and expl…

  5. Here's the weird thing though, as discussed yesterday [1], the Microsoft demo was totally broken as well. In the end, everyone is looking for a big platform shift (next MOBILE!!!) and hype getting ahead of reality. When we look back in 3 months we will wonder why we thought LLM/GPT type queries will replace search in all forms. https://dkb.blog/p/bing-ai-cant-be-trusted

  7. After years of trying Duckduckgo and then always going back to Google, it was this 2022 interview with the Kagi founder https://dkb.blog/p/kagi-interview that I read a few months ago that got me to try Kagi. I was shocked that they thought people would pay $10/month for a search engine. Then I thought, "if Google lets us search for free, how much must it be worth for them?" Over the last few years I've started tryin…

  9. Sure, but the sources list is generated by the same system that generated the text, so it’s equally subject to hallucinations. Some examples in here: https://dkb.blog/p/bing-ai-cant-be-trusted To answer the question above, these systems cannot provide sources because they don’t work that way. Their source for everything is, basically, everything. They are trained on a huge corpus of text data and every output depend…

  15. People have gotten it to play chess. The quality of play you get is very sensitive to prompt details, and may also be affected by OpenAI's ongoing model tuning, but here's one experiment in which it won 11 games of 19 against amateurs (treating any illegal move it tried to make as an immediate forfeit): https://dkb.blog/p/chatgpts-chess-elo-is-1400
