HN discussionIn my opinion UDF [1] would be a great option. Although it's mainly used in DVDs, it can also be created as read/write capable. [2] [1] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Disk_Format [2] https://duncanlock.net/blog/2013/05/13/using-udf-as-an-impro...

HN discussionI want this too! I discovered a really esotieric way to get this: https://duncanlock.net/blog/2024/01/04/super-fast-reader-mod... - but it would be really nice if there was just a way to switch reader mode on permenantly in modern browsers. Apparently Safari can do that, but afaik no other browsers support it. I really wish browsers were more modular - if the rendering engine and network fetching were easily separab…

HN discussionMy eldest was a reluctant reader, so a rpi with retropie, with lots of old games - no voiceovers, all text on-screen. Pokemon Firered/Leafgreen Throwback was the one the really worked the best for us: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=285094 - but Monkey Island is also working well. https://duncanlock.net/tag/speedrunning-computer-games-histo...

HN discussionThis is my version of this idea: https://duncanlock.net/blog/2022/11/22/automatically-publish... I run miniflux locally as an RSS aggregator, which I query with a little script, export the feed list and turn it into asciidoc to be published as a page on my blog. All automatic, I just follow feeds in miniflux as normal and it gets published.

HN discussionIn this post https://drewdevault.com/2022/05/12/Supply-chain-when-will-we... , Drew DeVault talked about supply chain attacks against language package managers (npm, PyPI, cargo, etc…) - and compares them to official Linux distribution repositories (deb, rpm, etc…). I wanted to try and figure out if this solution - use official Linux distribution packages instead of language ones - would work in practice, what that…
