Why HN links it
Linked for a post on the history of Hy, a Lisp-flavored Python, explaining why a let form was hard to make work in Python with yield, exceptions and breaking out of loops.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

HN discussionI actually wrote a short blog post about this just recently: https://engineersjourney.wordpress.com/2017/08/01/history-of... In short, let kept running into trouble with yield, exceptions, breaking out of loops and such. It would have been really tricky (probably close to impossible) to get everything working correctly.
