Why HN links it
Commenters link his posts on portability and C/C++ undefined behaviour as extra reading, in threads about compiler testing and UB. They do not judge the writing itself.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
No doubt. For starters, UBsan does not check for any invalid memory access. In my C++ course, I require that the code runs correctly under 5 different compilers (GCC, LLVM Clang, Apple Clang, MSVC, Intel C++ Compiler Classic) on 3 OS (Ubuntu, Windows, macOS) in Release, Debug+Valgrind, Debug+Sanitizers modes, and students still get UB quite often. Even if you just care about the latest 64-bit Ubuntu Linux LTS, compiler updates or flag changes bite as well. That's the main difference between C and C++ and almost any other language. Not the syntax, neither the perceived "low-levelness", nor manual memory management. In any other language, if you make a mistake, the program behaves…
