Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

One commenter links a post on computing CSS matrix3d transforms from a projective transformation, as a basis for doing perspective distortion live in the browser rather than with ImageMagick.

What Hacker News says?

  1. I have previously written about how to predict the next Math.random in Java (and hence Firefox also): http://franklinta.com/2014/08/31/predicting-the-next-math-ra... The TL;DR; is that it is easy since you only have to brute force around 2^22 possibilities (which runs in < 1 second). Someone then asked whether it is also possible in Chrome and Node: https://github.com/fta2012/ReplicatedRandom/issues/2 . After examin…

  3. Hey I'm the author of the project you linked to! The blog post is better for details: http://franklinta.com/2014/10/19/serverless-webrtc-using-qr-... Flashing qr codes was just a quick hack and actually doesn't work super well. I think if I had more time I would try compressing and stripping down the message more so it would fit in a single qr code instead (like in https://webrtchacks.com/the-minimum-viable-sdp/ ).

  5. Being able to scan barcodes using a web app is pretty cool. I used something similar when I was tinkering with transmitting data visually for the handshake step of webrtc: http://franklinta.com/2014/10/19/serverless-webrtc-using-qr-... . I used Lazarsoft's javascript QR code scanner which worked, but it wasn't very robust since it was a manual port of an early version of zxing. It is pretty easy to compile the c++ b…

  7. With some fiddling in matrices this could also be done live in the browser as a CSS 3D transform using matrix3d or in a WebGL context on the iframe or video element. Have no time to do the rectifying math on the components today but basically it would be some kind of inverse of this projective transformation: http://franklinta.com/2014/09/08/computing-css-matrix3d-tran... quick non-inverse transformation adapted fro…

  9. Did you happen to see my post on this? https://franklinta.com/2014/10/19/serverless-webrtc-using-qr... (The demo unfortunately doesn't work anymore since it's from 2014) The flow is very similar to yours, down to the flashing QR codes! https://youtu.be/rw4f9LfqqpI?t=8
