What Hacker News says?

  1. Disclosure: I work for FusionAuth, a competitor of Authentik. Curious. Is your solution active-active or active-passive? We've implemented multi-region active-passive CIAM/IAM in our hosted solution[0]. We've found that meets needs of many of our clients. I'm only aware of one CIAM solution that seems to have active-active: Ory. And even then I think they shard the user data[1]. 0: https://fusionauth.io/docs/get-sta…

  5. Author here. Thanks for submitting! I wrote this a year ago as my employer was starting up their forum[0]. While we have since added slack, the forum is the main support mechanism for our community (people who pay us money get support tickets). I still stand by that choice for: * SEO * durability * question quality I can't recall the exact numbers, but something like 5-10% of our overall traffic is to the forum. 0:…

  9. Yup. Gathering the data is a large part of the value he provides. I wrote an article about how to implement this, and data gathering tasks are crucial: https://fusionauth.io/learn/expert-advice/security/breached-... He touches on the non technical difficulties as well with his comment: "We invite parties to form their own views on the legality of the data." So the fact he's gathered it all lets HIBP be an service th…

  21. You might want to check out GNAP. I did an overview of it here: https://fusionauth.io/blog/2021/01/07/gnap-next-gen-oauth/ but you can also check out the spec here: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-gnap-core-protoc... They are aware of the issues of the browser centricity of OAuth. It's definitely not the simpler protocol you describe, but it's one way to look at the future.

  23. If anyone's looking for an Auth0 alternative, come check out FusionAuth! It's been built from the ground up for developer experience with a distinct lack of jargon, amazing customizability, an API first approach and great docs. Plus, enterprise features too, including SSO/SAML, OIDC, and more. https://fusionauth.io/docs/ (I work at FusionAuth.)

Hiya, First off, full disclosure: I don't work for Clerk; I work for a competitor which offers overlapping functionality, FusionAuth: https://fusionauth.io I think a sibling comment laid it out well. It's a tradeoff. You are giving up some control over how your users are stored for significant acceleration of functionality.
