  5. Wow, this one's actually crazy! https://grumpy.website/post/0Sar_W_5D I already mis-swipe in my Reddit app and downvote instead of upvote... the "small" vs "large" swipe option feels like something that gets mis-input a lot. Okay for something inconsequential like votes, but I can't imagine deleting something I wanted to save because of it.

  11. > Why enclose PWA in quotes? It's twitter's mobile site that they extended to cover both desktop and PWA. As a result, it's quite bad on all fronts and judging by the number of bugs that are lingering with no fixes, abandoned. At least they managed to almost fix the epileptic scroll position [1] > I don't have to give Twitter access to detailed information about my system while still using a full-featured, first-par…

That most current applications ignore because people think they are ancient rarely updated guidelines. This is especially evident in the MacOS world. HIG were the guide on the platform, and…

  21. Broken windows theory. In case of Linux and Windows you can see their effort to improve things. Their failures and shortcomings stem from either decades of legacy (Windows) or lack of overarching vision and resources (Linux). Whereas MacOS... It has always been billed (and billed itself) as the UI/UX front runner. It was (or was trying to be) polished, consistent, good. Apple had Human Interface Guidelines in as ear…

  25. > I also really dislike the App Store. [...] I used to _love_ it, I would check weekly for new things I used to do this too, and like you, I've now grown to really dislike it. My reason is different, though: the App Store app has _plummeted_ in quality. It's now so hard to use, I don't bother using it. 1. The UI is all over the place. Some UI controls cause pages to swipe up from the bottom. Some cause pages to swip…
