What Hacker News says?

  1. I was having a hard time finding the statement that SpatialOS can't run apart from Google Cloud, but they do not allow self-hosting, meaning you are tied to wherever they put their servers which is Google according to the parent's source. I suspect Hadean is similar, they've listed Microsoft as a partner, and presumably it's a cloud service that they are offering, so wherever they host it is where you get it, you're…

  3. Didn't know SpatialOS was attached specifically to Google Cloud. This seems like a risky business move, people should've learned from the fine example of companies built exclusively on the Facebook platform by now. https://www.hadean.com/ is presumably a direct competitor to SpatialOS then, I take it? And it's tied to Azure, I believe.

  5. Hadean | Engineers | London | Full-time | ONSITE | https://www.hadean.com/ Hadean is a small (<10 engineers, for now!) startup looking for people who want to have an impact in the distributed computing space. We're building an OS (yes, an actual OS) for distributed computing, and are looking for systems engineers looking for new challenges in a world that's becoming distributed by default. You'll probably be using R…

  6. What's specifically not possible with current technology? For example the "infinitely large simulation world" is an off-the-shelf system (or was the last time I looked https://hadean.com/ ) . Sure, it might not work in production but that certainly is not a lie.

Our speciality is in spatial compute - we’ve built a massive-scale distributed simulation engine and a connectivity layer to plug thousands of users into a single world.
