You might want to check out https://hookdeck.com (I work on it). We built it precisely for this use case, you shouldn’t have to spend of bunch of time building webhook ingestion infrastructure.

HN discussionTotally, things can get very reliable if you start processing webhooks asynchronously. Personally I've found it pretty cumbersome and complicated to build the necessary infrastructure in the past. I've been building https://hookdeck.com as a simpler alternative specifically to ingesting incoming webhooks.

HN discussionShameless plug but I've built https://hookdeck.com precisely to tackle some of these problems. It generally falls onto the consumer to build the necessary tools to process webhooks reliably. I'm trying to give everyone the opportunity to be the "best customers" as you are describing them. Stripe is big inspiration for the work.

HN discussionThis is a fantastic resource! Thank you to the folks at ngrok for putting this together! As this site makes clear: webhooks are harder than they appear. Even just consuming webhooks it's easy to get bogged down dealing with issues around rate limits or recovering from bugs that cause missed events! Missed events being particularly painful with platforms that don't offer replay / retry. Disclaimer: I work at https://…

HN discussionOne option is to use a platform like we created at https://hookdeck.com/ where we handle verification with multiple providers and then offer downstream destinations a verifiable request (the Hookdeck signature is a SHA-256 based HMAC digest). Drop Hookdeck in as a proxy between the origin service and your destination and you get seamless integrations that help with reliability, observability, and recovery (request r…

HN discussionWe don’t have a public SLA right now but work with customers directly to establish one that makes sense for both. That being said, check out this blog post https://hookdeck.com/blog-posts/hookdecks-approach-to-reliab... about our approach to reliability. HN discussionPH takes much more work and strategy but "success" is somewhat deterministic if you did your homework. In our case we saw similar uptake, signups and conversion then ~20h on HN front page over the course of a week. PH had a much higher half-life and we saw stable uptake for a few days while HN was all in the first few hours. It was definitely worth it for us. Some of our best customers found us on PH and our lead in…
