I'm just a guy from Canada, living in the Bay Area and trying to be a pretty okay human being. I like computers and old video games. Sometimes I write things here: https://writing.markchristian.org I have built some things over the years. Some of them were pretty okay at the time. http://isitsociallyacceptabletolistentoalliwantforchristmasisyouyet.com https://somanyfoodtrucks.com https://github.com/shinypb/watchnrun https://github.com/shinypb/feedfilterer http://whimsicalifornia.com/timebar htt…

Agreed. I'm a bit jealous of his (Mostly) food truck name ideas, https://writing.markchristian.org/name-ideas/ . Once, in the functional programming rabbit-hole, a coworker advocated for a hypothetical Indian food truck named Haskell's Curry. And when I was studying propositional logic I certainly wouldn't have said no to a side of De Morgan's ColesLaw.

  5. Thanks, Graeme. The free trial is actually an entire non-App Store version with its own in-app purchase -- I chronicled the experience at http://writing.markchristian.org/2012/03/30/make-your-own-ap... in the hopes of sharing the knowledge with other potential indie devs.

  7. Thanks, Sean. :) I wrote this up a few weeks ago to help give other developers their own plan B in case of similar difficulties: http://writing.markchristian.org/2012/03/30/make-your-own-ap...

  9. Hey, markchristian, the footnote numbering in this article is off/inconsistent. (The links seem correct, but the numbers are wrong.) Would you mind fixing this? Thank you! Edit: Whoops, sorry, I got mixed up. This comment actually applies to your "sensors in cartridges" article ( https://writing.markchristian.org/2019/05/11/sensors-in-cart... ), not the one I'm actually commenting on. Oops.

  11. I wrote up my experiences on releasing outside of the App Store: http://writing.markchristian.org/2012/03/30/make-your-own-ap... I use Stripe for payment processing with a custom in-app UI for buying the app. Stripe has been great — they charge 50c+2.9%, so I lose about 44c per copy of DragonDrop sold (versus losing about $1.50 to Apple in the App Store). I suggest releasing in the App Store if possible, but selling…
