Why HN links it
HN readers link ifelse for practical self-hosting guides: a Pi-hole ad-blocking setup over Streisand VPN, a backups write-up, and free APIs run on Fly.io.

What Hacker News says?
I came across this article last month: https://ifelse.io/2019/01/12/secure-ad-free-internet-anywher... It was surprisingly very easy and straightforward to setup, and working very well! It's most useful on Android/iOS. One small change I've done is to set the Pi-hole DNS server only on a specific set of VPN connections (using specific ports) in order to have a full, unfiltered VPN if necessary.

HN discussionThanks, nice post. Also enjoyed your write up about backups: https://ifelse.io/2018/12/05/better-faster-more-secure-backu... The funny thins is that I’ve been thinking something similar during Christmas. I now know that I’m not the only one thinking about taking days off work to sort out my backups and network :-)
