What Hacker News says?

  1. Tribute to Hintjens' great work and ideas. Man is like the Bernstein of enterprise software with great balance of unconventional design, correctness, performance, and innovation. Here's a list of some of his work for those interested: A great write-up on his theory of model-driven development and the tech that underpinned most of iMatix: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&c... . Binary formats have their drawbacks - the guy that designed the AMQP protocol called the wire protocol he designed for it an "expert mistake". Admittedly he was designing a spec rather than a product but worth understanding. Here is a short critique of AMQP, it's dated but still accurate: http://www.imatix.com/articles:necessary-changes-in-amqp We've waited 6 years for AMQP to develop a community and address basic issues such as its complexity and high cost of change. No progress... despite years (literally) of work to try to open the AMQP workgroup to wider participation. We love the idea of open messaging protocols and invested a pain…
