What Hacker News says?

  1. I absolutely hope the EU ramps military spending and negates the need for US support. Sometimes, you need a catalyst, and clearly another nation should not be beholden to US defense agreements. Decoupling globally continues. https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/368528/us-military-army-n... https://indi.ca/the-us-military-is-in-a-death-spiral/ https://www.rand.org/nsrd/projects/NDS-commission.html

  3. So, shouldn't this be flagged? Any article that offends the sensitivities of the wing-nut mode of the highly bi-modal community is immediately flagged. Such as the recent article by the resident of Sri Lanka during it's civil war. https://indi.ca/i-lived-through-collapse-america-is-already-... https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44121939 But somehow, traditional warfare news seems totally fine, despite the fact tha…

  5. Which government are you talking about? Like the US banned tiktok because Israel did not like it [1]? Let us be honest here.. China censors directly. US censors indirectly through the private companies [2] and through covert use of force [3]. If you had a pro-Russian stance in 2022 or pro-Palestine stance, you will see your content censored in very subtle ways in US. 1. https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/tiktok-ban-f…

  7. The Last Supper in 1993[4,5], is the likely root cause of all of this, in my opinion. It lead to the "feeding frenzy", a series of mergers. Its my understanding that the actual "crushing blow" for Boeing was the merger with McDonnell-Douglas[1] in 1997, and the profit über alles management style[2] that they were infected with as a result.[3] [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonnell_Douglas [2] https://en.wikiped…

  15. It's a blog written by a tankie who has written at length about how Israel will be destroyed by 2027 [0]. Irrespective of your stance on the very complex and morally grey Israel-Palestine issue, it's proof enough that the author doesn't really have domain knowledge on defense, IR, and policy. Also, his examples about Saudi fall apart very quickly. For example, "Saudi sells oil to the USA, which pays for it in USD. S…
