HN discussion> GPL is the Best License imho, you shouldn't care whether companies make money from your code. licenses won't stop them - take a look at Linux. if your whole deal is to stop companies from using your code for free, consider never releasing the source code at all. > Open source is becoming a corporate-only game. It’s used as a weapon between battling tech companies. i wrote a little bit about this: https://j…

HN discussionI think it's an intentional aesthetic choice[0]. Hyperlinks would be convenient, but something about the raw text / ascii art vibe makes me happy everytime I read a blog post from j3s even if it doesn't have the conveniences of the modern web. [0] https://j3s.sh/about.html

HN discussionit's still in the works, but here's the plan: - written in golang, one binary - custom markup lang - very short urls ( https://j3s.sh/$pagename ) - pages are saved as text-files-written-to-disk with git autocommits (similar to mycorrhiza[0]) - "blocks" that process parts of pages differently - similar to edna[1] - pages editable via web interface (rudimentary phone support) - autolinks between pages - simple picture…

HN discussionThe author's website is refreshing in the current age of blogspam SEO optimization. Worth a glance and they sound friendly! Even though there is the suspiciously consistent scatalogical theme.. https://j3s.sh/

HN discussioni read ted's manifesto awhile back and wrote a review about it: https://j3s.sh/review/industrial-society-and-its-future.html overall i was pretty disappointed. ted's writing wasn't very good at all & his arguments did not convince me. i was surprised because of his writing seems to be universally praised in tech circles. in my opinion it isn't worth reading. it's philosophical cosplay.

HN discussionvery true, and thank you for pointing this out. this is an intentional design decision - you can see me rationale here: https://j3s.sh/thought/storing-passwords-with-age.html it boils down to exactly what you noted - disk access is game over in most cases anyways, and i like the convenience of plaintext on the disk. i will be exploring the yubikey model that filippo recently outlined though https://words.filippo.io/…
