Jay Greco's personal blog at blog.jay-greco.com covers hardware and programming. Since 2016, 3 different Hacker News readers have linked it 3 times, most often “Amazon Dash Button's Wireless Audio Configuration”. The last post was in 2018, but the archive is still widely read.
Too few sampled comments (2) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN readers link this blog's post on the Amazon Dash button, which listened for inaudible ultrasound from a phone to set up Wi-Fi. Commenters cite it as an example of audio-based device setup.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.
I do teardowns, reverse engineering, and generally nerdy tech things on here.

What Hacker News says?
This makes me think of of the Amazon Dash button which had a microphone [0] that would listen for ultrasound emitted from your phone to configure wifi credentials. [0] http://www.blog.jay-greco.com/wp/?p=116

HN discussionAwesome project. I used a similar program (minimodem[1]) a while ago to configure Wi-Fi settings via audio [2]. It's great being able to do some basic setting without having a radio connection. Amazon used the same technique in their Dash-Button albeit in the inaudible range [3].
