What Hacker News says?
- Fungibility is broken when you have optional privacy--also stuff like this happens http://jeffq.com/blog/on-the-linkability-of-zcash-transactio... -No one but the participants should trust a trusted setup, and even then, it's only if they can vouch for their OPSEC. - B goes to my point that Green is inept as that should have been where they started. - And they were cordial after they talked through the issues and…

HN discussion> Its main competitor, Zcash -- which isn’t known to have a significant criminal following -- can offer even better privacy protection . On zcash, there was this discussion: http://jeffq.com/blog/on-the-linkability-of-zcash-transactio... which suggested that nearly 31.5% of the hidden transactions in Zcash has some transparent parts to it.

HN discussionThanks for the info. This malfunctioning behaviour doesn't seem that uncommon though. Here [1] is another story from 2016 with the same root cause. I'd like to know how widespread that non-standard behaviour really is. I could imagine that many small businesses, e.g. cafes, restaurants etc, use cheap consumer switches to manage their guest wifi. Those would seem to be vulnerable. Another thing: Maybe this is nonsens…

HN discussionThat post has provided no proof this is indeed a MAC address conflict issue, and as other comments suggest even an actual MAC address duplicate should only cause connectivity issues for said MAC address and no other devices. MAC addresses belong to the NIC and not the machine, and while the OS can override them, it won't do so without express user intervention. I'm especially skeptical of the Ethernet MAC being a du…
