John Wickerson writes Wickopedia, a personal blog at johnwickerson.wordpress.com about hardware and programming. Since 2016, 8 different Hacker News readers have linked it 19 times, most often “Mix-testing: revealing a new class of compiler bugs”. It is still writing: the last post was on 2026-09-26, and you can follow it by feed.
Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?
Why HN links it
HN readers link this blog for its posts on ReDoS (regular expression denial of service). The only comment discusses compiling the re2c regex engine to WebAssembly for runtime use, not the writing itself.
Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?
Actually one more thing I realized about this idea that would be wild... Since re2c itself is written in C, it can be easily compiled to wasm (even if it has a few gotos). So then you get an engine that can compile user patterns at runtime, rather than having it be an offline process. (I don't really think there is that much difference in constraints between the offline and online processes, as some of have suggeste…
