What Hacker News says?
>The changes come as critics say Apple, once a tech leader, is behind in the next big wave: artificial intelligence. It might pay off to be a contrarian on AI or, at least, to appear that way. MS is currently facing significant user backlash against the AI components of Windows 11. Some of their own engineers have ripped management for forcing AI that's in a very poor state into every pore of the company's products…

HN discussionHere's my build! https://jonready.com/blog/posts/local-llm-rig.html I love it because the watercooled 3090s are completely silent even under load. Facebook marketplace is definitely the move for a lot of the parts unfortunately, since you ideally would have higher end parts that are 2-3 years old.

HN discussionGood. This is how we will force the world to reckon with the isolated, the disgruntled, and "lone wolf" terrorist. Real "sigma males" actually exist, and when they decide "society has to pay" we are all worse off for it. If Ted Kaczynski (quintessential example of a real actual sigma) had been in his prime operating right now, he'd have mail-bombed NeurIPS and ICLR already. I'm not cool with being in crowds of AI pr…

HN discussionI built a geocoder that mostly solves this https://jonready.com/blog/posts/geocoder-for-ai-agents.html . I have about 96% recall compared to google places 98% recall, but it uses an llm for query planning and ranking so it might not be a good solution for you.

HN discussionIt's from the model card: > unlike our interventions for cybersecurity, biology and chemistry, and distillation attempts, these safeguards will not be visible to the user. Fable 5 will not fall back to a different model. Instead, the safeguards will limit effectiveness through methods such as prompt modification, steering vectors, or parameter-efficient fine-tuning (PEFT). https://www-cdn.anthropic.com/d00db56fa754a…

HN discussion> It's like giving wishes as a genie. You gotta be super explicit with the ground rules. I have used the genie analogy before. It used to feel more like a Golem but now with the whole Fable sabotage mode https://jonready.com/blog/posts/claude-fable5-is-allowed-to-... it certainly feels more Genie-like. Previously I described it as "Models give you what you ask, for not what you want". Now with Fable they don't even…
