What Hacker News says?
I think most people do modularize monoliths. There are Phoenix contexts and Rails engines that provide a good starting point, for example. After working with Phoenix I am actually thinking of bringing the idea of contexts to Rails applications (to some extend): https://nts.strzibny.name/business-logic-in-rails-with-conte...

HN discussionWhat I missed in the announcements of CentOS news and the obvious disappointment is the talk about whether Stream is actually a path you can take forward. I put together what we actually know about the CentOS -> Stream migration so far[0]. I personally might give stream a chance although if Rocky is released, I imagine it a no-brainer. HN discussionBoth Rails 7 and Phoenix 1.6 is going off Webpack by default and I am so looking into the esbuild future. I never really liked Webpack to be honest. I already replaced Webpack in my Phoenix project (you can compare default steps for building a release here https://nts.strzibny.name/12factor-elixir-phoenix-releases/ ) and cannot wait to do the same in Rails.

HN discussionI was already pretty happy with Kamal 1 but Kamal 2 will probably do it for way more people. The most requested feature was running multiple apps so I wrote a post on how that looks like if anyone is curious[0]. [0] https://nts.strzibny.name/multiple-apps-single-server-kamal-...

HN discussionIt is. Convenience. I mean you replaced perhaps running staff locally that also didn't match production in the first place... I am now using this setup[0] for development, but it doesn't really match production 1:1. [0] https://nts.strzibny.name/hybrid-docker-compose-rails/

HN discussionYou are asking the right questions. In our particular case, 1, we did not have good libraries for file uploads to Azure and to handle the signing for securely displaying them. This was solved by 2 very simple modules. In the end, both things are fairy simple unless you want them complicated (ActiveStorage can sure do "more" out-of-the box). This also means the code it's super straight-forward and understandable. 2,…
