Too few sampled comments (1) to say how often HN recommends it.?

Why HN links it

The only comment is a discussion of Go's zero values, prompted by the post "Perils of Constructors". It does not judge the post's writing, so HN's view of it is unclear.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 1 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

What Hacker News says?

  1. DNS infrastructure is really interesting. I did a bit of a deep dive on it a few months ago, culminating in running my own authoritative name servers [0] for a while. [0]: https://www.joshmcguigan.com/blog/run-your-own-dns-servers/

  3. Although it doesn't have constructors, Go has zero values. I can't find a reference, but I believe this is so that you can create arrays with any element type and they can be automatically initialized? Naturally, if pointers must have a zero value (like any other type), nil is a logical choice. The pervasive support for zero values (or not) seems like a pretty fundamental design choice with far-reaching consequences…

  5. I found quadcopters to be a great way to get into embedded development. There are a couple posts on my blog [0] [1] related to getting Rust running on a quadcopter controller, although I never actually got my code controlling the drone in flight. The lesson I learned was that if I was going to do it again I'd definitely choose a board with an exposed debugger port, as I spent a lot of time repurposing one of the mot…

  7. Hey HN, OP here. This is the third post in a series about running your own authoritative DNS infrastructure. The previous posts were about why I'm doing it and how to setup an authoritative DNS server [0], and how I monitor these machines [1]. This post provides an overview of how I automated the deployment of these servers. [0]: https://www.joshmcguigan.com/blog/run-your-own-dns-servers/ [1]: https://www.joshmcguig…
