  3. I am totally at odds with what PG has said here. I said - "If every developer was to focus on the very achievable goal of building a lifestyle/micro business – the entire house of cards would crumble." I stand by that. To expand, IMHO the current "chasing after the golden ticket of investment" model would crumble. But we humans are a very diverse bunch. It would be impossible for a few of us NOT to notice large scal…

  9. To my way of thinking the pendulum is swinging away from funded startups to folks bootstrapping side projects. So, on the "large" end you'll have the googles, facebooks, etc and on the "micro" end you'll see a bloom of people starting small projects like those shown on indihackers. It's something I've been hoping for since 2011! http://justinvincent.com/page/1392/entreporn-the-fallacy-tha...

Here are two more great resources: http://justinvincent.com/page/1421/bootstrappers-kickstarter... http://microisv.com/ - hasn't been updated in forever, but some good content I couldn't think of it when I wrote the above comment, but "microISV" is the term you want to search for. Stands for "micro independent software vendor"

You presumably work at Yelp? This isn't a case of killing the messenger. This is a case where the company wants business owners to conform to its way to dealing with spam rather than have its engineers come up with a better solution to the problem Read this very well written article on the problem and possible solution and maybe you'll have a better idea of the problem at hand. http://justinvincent.com/page/1874/yel…
