  13. Ditto, I loved devours too, and it's a libre game: https://jxself.org/git/devours.git Spiritwrak it's Zorkian but libre licensed unlike Zork [1-3] / Dungeon. And, OFC, Emacs has Inform-mode, a helper for Inform6 and Inform6-lib.

I'm still trying to fix Malyon from Emacs, as it hangs on this free adventure (Spiritwrak) https://jxself.org/git/?p=spiritwrak.git;a=summary You can get inform6 from the same page of the repos, and informlib by cloning spiritwrak with git clone --recursive https://jxself.org/git/?p=spiritwrak.git;a=summary

  17. Supposedly. So far, I haven't found a software implementation that is faster than MD5. However, I have found plenty of Skein software implementations that come close to meeting the speed specification. See http://ae7.st/p/5px . I'm using the reference code at https://github.com/BLAKE2/BLAKE2 for blake2, and https://jxself.org/git/?p=skeinsum.git for skein.

  20. With Inform7 targeting the ZMachine VM you can literally say that =). Inform6 it's a 'small' OOP language where with the English library the syntax it's dumber than VB6, Lua or anything else. Basically the objects and logic describe themselves as a dumbed down config file. You create a meta-object for rooms and light, and then copy and paste to create rooms, containers and tools based on atributes (again as if it we…

  22. - Anchorhead. "anchor.z8". Not libre software, but cool. And, one day, it might be. You need a Z-Machine interpreter, such as Frotz. - Dungeon. That's Zork I-III, condensed. More pure to the original adventures than the Infocom's further changes. 70% of chances of being libre software in a very close future, few months of years. - Spiritwrak. 23. There's also the free culture movement, which generally believes all creative works should be free, not just software. There are many people who would advocate for free software and not free culture, but jxself has also written in support of free culture: https://jxself.org/drm_and_free_culture.shtml That post is from 15 years ago, so of course he could have changed his views since then (but I don't see any evidence…

  25. Yes, very easy to grasp and games will be much lighter than Inform7. Tads it's propietary even if the interpreters are free. Inform6 has the whole stack (even free documentation too), from Inform Beginner's Guide to these, where you have libre games for Inform6 and some free as in freedom related documentation of Inform6 internals. https://jxself.org/git/

Not basic, but there were Super Star Trek (Python) https://jxself.org/git/?p=super-star-trek.git;a=summary and and Ztrek (Z-Machine, the same one as Infoco games) https://ifdb.org/viewgame?id=6nwxvawygc1mm1y4 (Use frotz or gargoyle to play it offline). 30. Nice, but for free as in freedom games, (and more complex ones) git check-out some from https://jxself.org/git/ . I suggest Spiritwrak for a Zorkian adventure, and All Thing Devours for a crazy time traveling puzzle. You can compile the required inform6 compiler (cc -o inform src/*.c; mv inform /usr/local/bin) and inform-lib with ease from that. When building some game with build.sh, if it fails, run "git submodule…
