Why HN links it

Linked for posts on building more ambitious software and on Lean 4 formal proofs. The comments discuss those topics, such as new GPU programming languages and Lean's proof checker, but do not judge the writing.

Summarised by Claude from a sample of 2 HN comments that link here. Each comment is marked recommending, critical or neutral (citing without judging); how this works.

Notes on Lean, tactics, and making the theorem prover do more work.

What Hacker News says?

  1. I find that frontier AI is very good at understanding new syntax/semantics, for whatever reason. But that's moreso "why is it not just a huge waste immediately". I want a new language because current GPU (and really, parallel programming) languages are just not it. Also, I think we'd be better off if it weren't just CUDA dominating the developer experience. Moreover, I feel that we should be embracing advanced type…

  3. Yeah, in essence. This is actually a pretty cool part of working in Lean. It's a somewhat normal convention to write something in a human readable way and then write a second optimized implementation with some kindness of correctness theorem connecting them. There was a whole open "competition" for writing a faster Lean kernel/proof checker that didn't sacrifice on soundness called Lean Kernel Arena. Fun reference p…
