What Hacker News says?

  1. At that point you could just breakout the thunderbolt to PCIe and use a regular NIC. Actually, I'm pretty sure that's all that to the Atto Thunderlink, a case around a broadcom nic. Then you _just_ need the driver. Fascinating, Apple ships MLX5 drivers, that's crazy imo. I understand that's something they might need internally, but shipping that on ipadOs is wild. https://kittenlabs.de/blog/2024/05/17/25gbit/s-on-ma…

  3. For a company that has repeatedly ignored macOS, your wishlist seems anything but a pipe dream. QSFP on a mac. Yeah right. If anything, they’ll double down on TB or some nonstandard interconnect. What is a computer? (Although, I do hope with the new work on supporting RDMA, the MLX5 driver shipped with macOS will finally support RDMA for ConnectX NICs ) https://kittenlabs.de/blog/2024/05/17/25gbit/s-on-macos-ios/

  7. EasyEffects can apply a generic improvement for most small speakers. Kittenlabs has a writeup of using Room EQ Wizard to measure impulse response of your specific speakers to create a proper correction. The results are pretty dramatic on a GPD palmtop. https://kittenlabs.de/blog/2025/04/06/gpd-pocket-4-speaker-d... HN post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43635295

  9. There have been attempts to make the Pi boot faster (by disabling the initialization of various subsystems), e.g.: https://github.com/IronOxidizer/instant-pi https://himeshp.blogspot.com/2018/08/fast-boot-with-raspberr... https://kittenlabs.de/blog/2024/09/01/extreme-pi-boot-optimi...
